Last of the Going Public spotlight on Six Minute Story, the wonderful li’l site for jumpstarting your creativity with a 6-minute flash fiction/nonfiction writing challenge. Had a great time playing around with it, and was thrilled that a couple folks decided to join me!
Also new pieces from Wayne Gatfield and Cathleen Bailey, and a new chapter of Tom Jones.
Six Minute Story Retrospective…with music!
As I said in the intro to the piece, Six Minute Story is a place I return to again and again for GP pieces, and to round out our 2014 promotion of the SMS project, thought I’d revisit the earliest SMS pieces I did, from 2011-2012…see how they might come out of me a couple of years down the road.
Oh. And add music. I mean…why the heck not?

Tom Jones Book X Ch 4, by Henry Fielding
Read by Mark Turetsky
Book 10 Chapter 4 of Tom Jones.
This is part of an ongoing project in which I will record and post one chapter per week of Henry Fielding’s Tom Jones over the course of four years.
In this chapter, the chambermaid to the young lady makes many demands of our heroic innkeeper. She won’t eat mutton, because she’s not a horse (she clearly has some amazing ideas about animal diets), won’t eat in a kitchen with post-boys in them, and generally acts above her station. Her demeanor changes rather suddenly, however, when she hears that Tom Jones is in the inn.
