…recorded with permission of the author

And here it finally is, the complete journey, including the final chapter in our journey…a dark one, as we join our unreliable narrator, Jax as they try to make sense of what’s happening to them, both inside and out, just what kind of place they’ve found themselves in, and what the hell is wrong with Bright Horizons.

Written by Maevyn Davis-Rackerby during junior high for the NaNoWriMo Young Writers Program in 2011, it’s my privilege to be allowed to try and do it justice.

Tom Jones, Book XIII, Chapter 2, by Henry Fielding

Read by Mark Turetsky

Book 13 Chapter 2 of Tom Jones.

This is part of an ongoing project in which I will record and post one chapter per week of Henry Fielding’s Tom Jones over the course of four years.

In this chapter, Tom finally finds his way to London, and when he arrives, manages to talk his way into the house of the Irish peer who brought Sophia into town. The woman he meets there, however, is not Sophia, but rather Mrs. Fitzpatrick. Mrs. Fitzpatrick believes that Tom is Blifil, and therefore won’t tell him anything about Sophia’s whereabouts. Her maid then clues her in, but she decides that Tom is too much a rake to let see Sophia.

Book 13 Chapter 3 of Tom Jones.

This is part of an ongoing project in which I will record and post one chapter per week of Henry Fielding’s Tom Jones over the course of four years.

In this chapter, Mrs. Fitzpatrick visits her cousin Lady Bellaston to get advice on how to deal with Tom Jones and Sophia. Lady Bellaston seems interested in meeting Tom herself, and decides that she will get a good look at him when he returns to visit Mrs. Fitzpatrick. Of course, she’s strictly only doing this to protect her young relation, Sophia.
